A visionary future or a dangerous experiment for libraries?

With libraries under threat across the country new models are being tried to protect them for the future. But at what cost?

We fought hard to save Levenshulme library and secure a future for our public services without being forced down the insecure road of relying on volunteers running a radically reduced service. But could the proposals for a library integrated into a new building with sports facilities and swimming pools actually undermine the long term security of our library? Will we see the library space converted into a cafe in a few years as further budget cuts take hold?
