Children’s Sponsored Walk For Refugees In Crisis 27th September

Young children want to raise money for those who have lost everything and seeking refuge for safety.

On Saturday evening my husband and I spoke to our children (aged 8, 5 and 3) about the Syrian conflict in a sensitive way that children their age would understand. We wanted them to be aware so that we could donate items and they would understand why.

My eight year old daughter suggested a sponsored walk to raise money to help and we burst with pride. I explained to the boys what a sponsored walk was and they giddily agreed.

We are going to walk the Fallowfield loop on 27th September at 1pm starting at the entrance at Slade Lane and will walk to Gorton. They will then have to do the journey back again.

Other families have said they will join us so I have created this event page so that people can invite other families or sponsor those walking or toddling.

There will be children of different ages and stages so I propose parents/carers wanting to get involved to set your own targets for your child’s individual needs. that way everybody who would like to participate and raise money can be included. Also id say bike riding, scooting, running are allowed as they are children after all.

For those attending please bring appropriate clothing for the weather and water.

Some families may even want to bring a picnic, the loop has some lovely spots to sit and we will also pass the secret lake.

If you cant join us, please sponsor the children.

Thank you.
